MLB instantly regrets Wiz Khalifa throwing out first pitch

With the Pirates far out of the playoff picture, maybe Wiz Khalifa just wants fans to relax.

The Pittsburgh-bred rapper threw out the first pitch before the Pirates beat the Orioles 5-3 at PNC Park on Wednesday, but before he pitched, he mimicked puffing and passing — as in a joint.

Khalifa, much of whose music serves as his strong endorsement of marijuana, was wearing a “LEGALIZE IT” shirt when he took the mound. He held the ball in his left hand as he brought his right hand to his lips, either preparing a circle change or showing how to smoke what he wants to legalize.

Baseball was embarrassed, and the Pirates claimed they had no idea this was coming.

“Marijuana is a prohibited substance in all of our drug programs. It’s unfortunate this situation occurred,” Major League Baseball said in a statement to the Pittsburgh Tribune. “The Pirates have informed us that this should not have happened.”
